Protect Your Eyes - Eat FISH and NUTS!

Recent research is suggesting a diet containing fish and nuts <em>may</em> help protect against a leading cause of blindness. Damage to the blood vessels in the retina (back of the eye), leads to Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMG) a leading cause of blindness in older adults

General Blood Vessel diet tips: Eat fish twice per week and eating 1-2 serves of healthy nuts (Almonds, Walnuts and Pecans), were shown to potentially reduce the risk of AMD by a third. The observed potential benefits were greatest in those who were non-smokers and had good cholesterol profiles

SIt is thought the omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components of these foods may help protect the blood vessels in the eye.
