| Nutrition Consulting
Sports Nutrition and working with Athletes
We are all full members of Sports Dietitians
Australia which is the 'gold standard' accreditation for sports nutrition professionals
in this country.
Sports Teams

Being around elite athletes
and seeing their training
habits and discipline
is part of the process
of knowing the athlete
and therefore being
able to set a specialised
individual diet programme.
To enhance and support the team environment, our nutrition services
can cater to elite athletes or developmental players.
Group
education and skill development sessions may involve cooking, supermarket
shopping, and hydration assessments. Anthropometrical assessments
can be undertaken on a regular basis to ensure the goals set by players
and coaches alike are being met. Players will be assessed as to their
nutritional intake and provided with ongoing support to enhance their
adaptations to training and maximise their performance at each and
every training session and game.
Our role within the team goes well beyond the individual players.
A sports dietitian can be a timesaver for other staff, by taking
on responsibilities such as menu provision at home and away and
coordination of nutritional product provision to players. As part
of the whole medical / physical support team, the sports dietitian
can also help assess the potential role of new products on the market,
and help design and implement trials to assess their role in your
sport.
We also combine regularly with experienced exercise physiologists
and personal trainers if you are interested in a combined health
and fitness assessment and program.
Individual Athletes
Practical sessions like shopping
and cooking are important methods
of learning about good nutrition
Individual athletes have their own specific goals, related to both
performance and health. As experienced sports dietitians, we can help
you to achieve those goals faster and more effectively. We understand
how time can be precious, and hours labouring in the kitchen or supermarket
are not viable. We will spend time with you working through changes
you could implement, and help you with the practical skills you require
to make these changes quickly and easily.
We also appreciate that individuals have their own
food preferences so we ensure that training and competition
eating plans taste great as well as be nutritionally sound.
We have devised an annual nutrition education program which runs from
years 8 through to 12. The aim of this program is to progressively
provide young athletes with the knowledge and skills they will require
to eat well for their sport. A one hour presentation is provided each
term, including practical sessions on hydration, taste testing and
cooking classes. All presentations incorporate skills such as decision
making and reading and interpreting food labels. This program is easily
adapted to your specific sport, age groups and the number of sessions
required.
