GIVE YOUR IMMUNITY A KICK (August 2009)

We are now in the middle of cold and flu season, and the experts are predicting H1N1 to linger. During everyday activities you can be exposed to all sorts of cold and flu bugs.

Help give your immune system a boost by making sure you meet your daily recommendations of Fruit and Vegetables.  These two food groups contain essential vitamins and minerals to help fight off nasty bugs.  2 Serves of colourful fruit and 5 different vegetables will give your body a helpful nutrient kick!

Staying well hydrated also helps your body fight off incoming particles, so continue to drink your 8 glasses of water per day, even though it’s cold and you’re not thirsty.

If you feel unwell, help meet both requirements by sipping a glass of hot water with the juice of 1 lemon and a teaspoon of honey
